Smashing-Plates.com is a central site which will soon be used for a range of numberplate related products and services- buyandsellnumberplates.com is a clear and catchy domain which explains exactly what the site is currently used for.

What makes you different? Aren´t you just another dealer?

We are not a dealer- we are a marketplace for buying and selling numberplates. This means we remain unbiased and objective- making things easy for you to advertise your plate is our aim.

So how does this work?

Whether buying or selling a numberplate you can use Smashing Plates to connect directly with other buyers and sellers. There is no middleman and no commissions to worry about- Smashing Plates is simply a marketplace- we are a third party- our only motive is to provide the best facilities for buying and selling numberplates- that´s it!

Why don´t you have millions of plates?

Most dealers advertise plates for sale which are "DVLA stock". The DVLA hold 20Million + registrations for sale. Dealers sell these to you on behalf of the DVLA with their mark up on top. You can find all of these registration numbers at www.dvla-som.co.uk and will save money too.

Why should I advertise with you?

Advertising a numberplate can take months. A numberplate is a highly specialised item; advertising costs can mount up as your advert will expire and need to be relisted- our adverts don't expire- you pay a one off fee for the advert and that´s it.

You´re a bit expensive- is it worth the money?

As we don´t charge you to relist your advert, Smashing Plates is the most cost effective way to advertise your plate- you get a better price for your plate by dealing direct with the buyer and you benefit from future "Smashing" innovations and new features.

Why don´t I just advertise with a dealer?

You may advertise your plate with a dealer of course- they handle the transfer for you and deal with the buyer. This results in a commission charge which is added to the cost of the plate. This means the price of your plate is inflated to accommodate the commission- hindering your chances of a sale.

Why don´t I just advertise on EBay?

As numberplates can take many months to sell- advertising them via "traditional" channels can become costly. Advertising on EBay or in magazines etc can soon add up. It's not to say that these are not effective ways to advertise your plate but numberplates are specialised items and need a specialised marketplace.

Do you complete the transfer for me?

As we are a marketplace we do not get involved in the transaction of buying/selling or transferring the plate- we simply provide the advertising platform.

What do I do when my plate sells?

When you have sold your numberplate you can remove the advert via the "my account" section, or you can email us and we will do it for you. info@smashing-plates.com
