2010 promises to be another stellar year for number plates and an interesting one as the recession subsides and activity in buying and selling number plates increases once more.
Perfect 10
The release of the “10” series of plates marks a landmark change and further possible confusion for the public on just when certain number plate combinations are released.
10 – bearing a resemblance to LO will see a raft of HE10 and similar plates capitalising on some unique combinations created by the 10 series.
DVLA Auctions
6 Auctions planned for 2010 and they look set to yet again achieve some record breaking results and add further revenue to the DVLA.
The January DVLA Auction gets underway on 27th January in Cambridgeshire with lot 1OOO set to steal the show.
Venues as far and wide as Harrogate and Warwick mean everyone has a chance to visit a DVLA auction and sample the atmosphere if they wish.
We’ll keep you posted of all the auction results and information as it happens.
Gone in 60 plates
The release of the “60” series later in the year will bring a unique combination of “GO” number plates to the fore as well as provide many a perfect 60th birthday gift.
Details are yet to be confirmed on this release but we shall update you when it is announced.
Sealed bid auctions
Although not publicised vastly the DVLA are planning to hold sealed DVLA auctions once more this year.
A great chance for some bargains and a huge money spinner for the DVLA with reduced overheads.
The sealed bid auctions in 2009 generally had more unsold lots than “live” DVLA auctions but represented a greater opportunity to snap up some bargains.
Whatever happens in number plates in 2010, Smashing Plates will be there – watch this space!
